About Barley Manor Care Home
We are Barley Manor Care Home, a nursing home near Cambridge. We care for older people and younger adults who need qualified nursing alongside support with daily living, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available. Having nurses on duty at every hour is what lets us look after complex and changing health needs without somebody having to move on. Medication, wound care, continence, pain and increasing frailty can all be managed here, and for many families that reassurance is the whole reason they came looking. We are just as interested in the rest of the day. People get up when they want, eat what they like, choose where to sit and keep their own belongings and habits. We ask about a person's history and preferences in some detail, because that is what allows staff to see the individual rather than the list of needs, and it is what makes an early change in somebody's condition obvious. Where we care for younger adults, we plan for their interests and independence deliberately rather than expecting them to fit a routine built for much older people. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome and we keep relatives properly informed. Please ring us if you would like to arrange a visit.
