About Us
Fairmile Grange Care Home is a nursing home in Christchurch, Dorset. We care for older people who need registered nursing alongside help with daily life, and a large part of our work is with people living with dementia. We also support younger adults whose health needs call for nursing care.
Nursing cover around the clock is the practical reason most people come to us. It allows us to manage complex medication, skin and pressure care, continence and nutrition, and to keep a steady watch on health so that changes are caught while they are still small. Where somebody is nearing the end of their life, it means we can keep them comfortable here, among people who know them.
Dementia asks for something other than clinical skill. It asks for a familiar rhythm to the day, surroundings that are easy to make sense of, and staff who go where the person is instead of correcting them. We take time to learn about somebody's working life, their family and their habits, because that is what explains how they are now.
We also try not to let the clinical side swallow the rest. Residents decide when they get up, what they eat, whether they join in and who visits.
Respite and short stays are available. Please ring us to arrange a visit.
