About Us

Avon Reach is a nursing home in Christchurch. We provide nursing care for older people and for younger adults, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a shorter period, whether that is recovering after a spell in hospital or giving a family carer a break.

Having qualified nurses on site changes what is possible. Somebody whose health is complicated or changeable can stay here as their needs increase rather than being moved on, and clinical decisions are made promptly by people who already know the person well. We would far rather deal with something early than watch it turn into a hospital admission.

The nursing is only part of what makes a place worth living in, though. Most of what makes a day good happens elsewhere, in conversation, in familiar belongings around a person, in a chair by a window and in family who come and go easily rather than feeling like visitors to an institution. We plan for that as carefully as we plan the clinical side.

Christchurch is home for many of the people who live here, and moving into a nursing home should not mean leaving your own life behind.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are weighing up options for someone close to you, please visit and meet the nursing team.
