About SeeAbility South Support Service

We are SeeAbility in south Surrey, based in Redhill, and we provide support in people's own homes and in the community. We support people living with sight or hearing loss, adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, people with physical disabilities, older people and younger adults. Much of our work is with people who have both sight loss and a learning disability, and that combination is often poorly understood. Sight loss can go unnoticed for years in somebody who cannot easily describe it, and the effects get put down to something else. So we look properly, we get eye health taken seriously, and we adapt how we communicate and how we arrange a room rather than expecting the person to adapt to us. Support is planned with the person, in their own words and in whatever way they communicate, alongside family and professionals where they want them involved. It might cover personal care, medication, cooking and shopping, managing money and post, keeping a tenancy in order, or getting out to work, college and the places somebody actually enjoys. Our aim throughout is to help somebody do a thing rather than to do it for them, because a skill used is a skill kept, and confidence is easier to keep than to rebuild. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us if you would like to talk about what support might help.
