About Third Hand Care

We provide care at home in Farnham and the villages across this part of Surrey. Some of the people we see need a single short call each day. Others need support morning, midday and evening, and a few need somebody with them for much longer stretches. We would rather be honest at the outset about what we can reliably provide than agree to a pattern we cannot staff properly. We support older people, adults living with dementia, autistic adults and people with learning disabilities, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, those with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. It is a wide brief, and we treat it as a reason to plan each person's support individually rather than to run everybody through the same routine. What we are asked for most often is reliability, and it is the thing we work hardest at. Turning up when we said, with somebody the person recognises, having read what was written after the last visit. None of that is remarkable. It is simply what good care at home consists of, and it takes organisation rather than inspiration. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are pleased with it without treating it as the end of the conversation. If something in a person's care is not working we want to hear it early, and we would rather change the plan than defend it.
