About Abletrust Care

We provide care at home in Caterham and the surrounding parts of Surrey. Those we visit include older adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. A good deal of our thinking goes into how long a visit should be. Fifteen minutes is enough to complete a task and not enough to do it properly with somebody who is frail, in pain, or simply slow first thing in the morning. So we would rather agree fewer, longer calls than a full schedule of short ones that look efficient on paper and feel like being processed. We also pay attention to what happens between our visits, since that is most of a person's day. Are the tablets within reach. Is there something in the fridge they can manage alone. Has the post piled up. Small things, but they are usually what decides whether somebody is coping or quietly struggling, and our carers are asked to notice and to say so. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat it as a baseline rather than a finish, and we would rather a family rang us about something small in the week it happened than mentioned it months later to somebody else.
