Royale Carers provides care and support to people in their own homes in Westcliff on Sea and the surrounding area. We work with older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Almost everybody who contacts us wants the same thing. To carry on living in their own house, with their own belongings and their own way of running a day, helped just enough to make that safe and manageable. Our job is to provide that help without taking the household over. We begin with a visit and an unhurried conversation about what has genuinely become difficult, which is often not what families assume. Sometimes it is washing and dressing, sometimes medication or meals, sometimes getting to appointments, and quite often it is simply that the days have grown very long and quiet. The plan follows from that and is revised as needs change. We keep the team around each person small and introduce new staff properly rather than sending somebody unannounced. For people living with dementia and for anyone who cannot see or hear well, a familiar voice at the door and an unhurried manner matter a great deal. Where somebody has a physical disability we look closely at equipment, transfers and how the home is arranged. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please call us to arrange a visit.

Trends Healthcare supports people in their own homes across Southend on Sea and the surrounding area. We work with people living with dementia or a mental health condition, people with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Support looks very different depending on who is asking for it. For one person it is help to wash and dress and get the morning started. For another it is making a working week, a college course or a social life possible, with the practical parts handled so the rest can happen. We take time at the start to understand which one we are being asked for rather than running both off the same template. Whatever the pattern, the principles hold. The person decides how their support runs. We do what needs doing and step back from what does not. And we keep families informed, with their relative's agreement, rather than leaving them to guess. We keep teams small so that nobody is forever explaining themselves to somebody new, which is tiring and, for a good many of the people we support, genuinely disruptive. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support at home in Southend.

- Home Care
We provide care at home in Southend on Sea and the surrounding area, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. Needs that varied cannot be met from a standard package, so we ask before we plan. For an older person, help often centres on personal care, medication, meals and keeping the house manageable. For a younger adult it is more likely to be about independence: running a home, getting to work or college, handling money and keeping appointments. Where somebody is living with dementia, a familiar and unhurried carer does more good than anything written down. We put real effort into continuity, sending the same carers to the same households wherever the rota allows. It spares people from explaining themselves repeatedly and means somebody is likely to notice when a person is unwell, in pain or unusually withdrawn. For autistic people, a predictable arrangement matters in the same way. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach when a situation is unclear. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking into care at home for yourself or a relative, please get in touch for an honest conversation about what we can take on.

Ashley Care supports adults in their own homes in Southend on Sea and the surrounding area. The people we visit are varied. Older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities, people whose sight or hearing has changed, and people whose difficulties involve an eating disorder or the use of alcohol or drugs. With that range there is no standard package, and we do not offer one. We start by understanding how somebody's day actually goes, what they still do for themselves and want to keep doing, where things genuinely fall down and who else is already involved. From there we agree support that fits, put it in plain writing and change it as things change. Continuity is the part we guard most carefully. The same carers going to the same homes is what allows trust to build, particularly where somebody has been let down by support before, and it is how our staff notice that a person is eating less, sleeping badly or becoming unwell. We work alongside GPs, community teams, social workers and specialist support rather than in parallel with them, and we raise concerns promptly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss support at home.

Kindered Hearts provides care and support to people in their own homes in Southend on Sea and the surrounding area. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people managing mental health conditions, and people with a physical disability or with sight or hearing loss. Every arrangement begins with a visit and a proper conversation about how the day currently works, where it falls down, what the person wants to keep doing for themselves and what help they would genuinely welcome. The plan that follows is agreed with the person and written in plain language. Our support covers personal care, prompting and assistance with medication, preparing meals and drinks, help with moving about safely, shopping, laundry and housework, and getting out to appointments, education or activities. We review arrangements as circumstances change. Our carers are trained for the needs they support and supervised in the work, and we keep the same people visiting the same households wherever the rota allows, because continuity is what makes support feel like help rather than intrusion. We work alongside families, GPs, community nurses and social workers. If you are considering care at home in this area, please contact us and we will arrange to visit you.

- Home Care
Liv Healthy Care supports people in their own homes in Leigh on Sea and across the Southend area. We visit older people, adults living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, those with sight or hearing loss and younger adults. We start every arrangement with a proper conversation rather than a form. What can somebody still manage, what has become hard work, what would they like their week to look like, and what would they rather we did not interfere with. Those answers become the plan, written plainly and revisited when life changes instead of left to age in a folder. Calls range from a short morning visit through to several longer ones a day, covering personal care, medication, meals, shopping, laundry and housework, help to get out of the house, and genuine company for people who might otherwise speak to nobody. Where someone lives with dementia we hold the routine and the faces steady, because unfamiliarity is what unsettles people most. We keep our rounds local so carers are not racing between calls and people see a small, familiar team. Staff train before working alone and are supervised in people's homes afterwards. We are a newer team and have not yet had a full inspection of our own, which we would rather say up front than have you discover. Please ask us anything before you decide.

- Home Care
We provide care at home in Westcliff on Sea and the surrounding part of Southend, supporting older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. Our work falls into two broad parts, and we do not pretend they are the same thing. For older people it usually means help with daily life so that somebody can stay in the house they know: washing and dressing, support with medication, meals, shopping and keeping on top of the housework. For younger adults, including people with learning disabilities and autistic people, it is more often about building a life. Managing a home, getting to work, college or something they enjoy, handling money, keeping appointments and doing the ordinary things anyone would want to do with their week. In both cases we ask what the person actually wants help with before we suggest anything, and we try to send the same staff consistently. For autistic people in particular, a familiar face and a predictable arrangement can matter a great deal more than extra hours. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can call on. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are happy to discuss that openly. If you are looking for support at home, do get in touch and we will tell you honestly whether we can provide it.

De Vere Care Partnership in Southend on Sea supports people in their own homes across the town and nearby. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Almost everyone who contacts us wants to stay where they are, and our job is to make that practical rather than to take anything over. Depending on the person that could be one call each morning to help with washing and dressing, several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals and company, or support that is less about physical tasks and more about keeping an ordinary week on track. We start by asking what help is actually wanted rather than working from a form. People are usually clear about what they can still manage and would rather keep doing for themselves, and respecting that is as much the job as anything we take on. Continuity is where we concentrate. A familiar carer who knows the house, the routine and the person makes a visit work in a way a stranger cannot, and that matters most where dementia, autism or reduced sight and hearing are involved. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to talk things through.

Naidcare provides care and support in people's own homes in Southend on Sea and the surrounding area. We work with older people, adults living with dementia or mental health conditions, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, people with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults living independently. Because the people we support have quite different needs, we cannot work to a single formula. What we can do is begin every arrangement with a proper conversation about what is actually difficult and what would help, write a plan in plain language and then keep to it. For some people that means practical help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and shopping. For others it means someone alongside them through a difficult period, keeping appointments on track and noticing early when things are slipping. For younger adults and people with learning disabilities, our role is often more about building confidence and independence than doing things for them. We keep rounds local so that people see familiar carers, and we introduce anyone new properly rather than sending a stranger unannounced. Our staff are trained before working unsupervised and supported by senior colleagues who visit, supervise and review. Families often carry a great deal of worry, and good home care should reduce it. If you would like to discuss what support might help, please contact us and we will arrange to visit.

We work with older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia or with mental ill health, people with a learning disability, people who are autistic, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We should be plain about our regulatory position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to dress that up. We have accepted the findings, we are working through an improvement plan, and we have made changes to how we recruit, train and supervise our carers and to how we check that visits take place properly and on time. Meanwhile the daily work goes on. Our carers help people with getting up and settling at night, washing and dressing, medication, meals, housework and shopping, and support family carers who need dependable cover so that they can rest or work. If you are considering us, please ask about the rating, ask what we have changed and ask to speak to the manager. Those are fair questions and we would rather answer them directly. We will always be straight with you about what we can and cannot do, and we will tell you quickly if something has gone wrong.

We are a home care agency working in Southend on Sea and the surrounding area, supporting people in their own homes. We visit older people, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and younger adults who need support with daily life. Home care is worth having when it is built around the person rather than around a standard package. For some of the people we support that means a short morning call to help with getting up, washing and dressing, leaving the rest of the day their own. For others it means help with medication, meals and the running of a household, or several visits through the day where that is what makes staying at home realistic. We agree what is needed at the start, put it in writing and change it when circumstances change. Continuity is the part of this work people feel most, so we try to keep the same small group of carers with the same person. A familiar face at the door matters, and a carer who knows somebody well is the one who notices when they are not right. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking into support at home for yourself or a relative, please ring us. First Point 24 provides support at home to adults across Southend on Sea and the surrounding area. We help people stay in their own homes with support shaped around their circumstances rather than around a standard package. The people we work with include those living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and people dealing with problems related to alcohol or drug use. That breadth means we listen carefully at the outset, because assumptions are the quickest way to get support wrong. Visits cover personal care, help with medication, meals, laundry and housework, moving about safely, getting to appointments and keeping in touch with the wider world. Some people want a short daily call. Others need a good deal more, including support at unsociable hours, and we are set up for that. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We regard it as a baseline, and we keep asking the people we support whether their experience matches it. If you are considering home care in Essex, we are happy to come out, answer questions plainly and be honest about what we can and cannot do.

We are CC Health Care, supporting adults in their own homes in Southend on Sea and the surrounding area. We support older people and people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need help with daily life. The work is practical: help with washing and dressing, support with medication, meals prepared properly, shopping, housework, and a hand getting out of the house. For some people that is one call a day and for others it is several. Because we are guests in somebody's home, they set the terms. We ask how things are usually done and we do them that way rather than arriving with a system of our own. We agree the times that suit and we keep to them, since a late call is no small matter when somebody is waiting to get up or needs their tablets. Wherever the rota allows we send the same small group of workers. Familiarity does much of the work in home care: somebody you know is easier to let in, and a worker who knows you notices sooner when you are unwell. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us if you would like to talk.

We are Anytime Care Solutions, based in Westcliff on Sea and supporting people in their own homes across Southend and the surrounding area. We work with older people and people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults building independent lives. Given that range, we do not offer one standard package. We visit first, talk properly with the person and with family where that is wanted, and agree what the support should actually cover. It might be a single call each morning, several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals and household tasks, or support that is as much about routine and encouragement as anything practical. We are careful about who goes where, and we keep those arrangements steady. Knowing the face at the door matters to nearly everybody we visit, and for some of the people we support it is the difference between accepting help and turning it away. Our carers are trained for the work they are sent to do and properly supervised, and the office is reachable when a family needs to speak to somebody. We liaise with GPs, district nurses and social workers as needed. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please call us to talk things through.

PEAH Care provides care at home for people in Westcliff on Sea and the surrounding area. We keep what we offer straightforward: reliable, respectful help in the place where somebody already lives, for as much or as little of the day as they need. Most of our work is with older people. We help with washing and dressing, prompting and support with medication, meals and drinks, laundry, shopping and keeping the home comfortable. We also help people get out of the house, whether that is to an appointment, to the shops or simply for some air and a change of scene, and we make time for the conversation that goes with it. For people living with dementia we keep the same care workers visiting wherever the rota allows, follow the routine the household already has and avoid moving things about in a house somebody knows by heart. We support adults with mental health needs, where turning up reliably and without judgement is the most useful thing we do. We also support younger adults, arranging visits around work, study and family life. Care is arranged after a proper conversation with the person and, where they want it, their family, and reviewed as needs change. Please ring us if you would like to talk it through.

We provide care at home in Southend on Sea, supporting older adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and younger adults. Families usually find us at a difficult point, after a fall or a hospital discharge or a slow accumulation of worry. What we try to offer first is clarity rather than reassurance: what we can provide, how often, what it costs, and what we honestly cannot do. A comfortable answer that collapses in a month is worse than a blunt one now. After that the work is unglamorous and depends on organisation. The same faces where possible, notes read before arriving, and enough time in each visit that nobody is hurried through being washed. We aim our help at what has genuinely become hard and leave alone what somebody would rather keep managing, because kindness is how independence usually gets eroded, one helpful act at a time. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather say so directly than write around the gap. Ask us how we recruit, train and check our carers, and meet them before anything starts.

We provide care at home in Southend on Sea and the surrounding area, supporting older adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss and younger adults. A range this wide only works if you plan one household at a time. What keeps an older person safe at home has little in common with what helps a younger adult manage independently, and running both through the same routine serves neither. We put a good deal of thought into matching the carer to the household. An hour with somebody you get along with is company. The same hour with a stranger working through a checklist is something else entirely, and people can tell the difference at once. Reliability is the part of this sector that most often fails, so we build rounds that survive an ordinary bad morning and we ring rather than leave somebody sitting and wondering. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that plainly. Ask us how we recruit and train, and meet the carers beforehand.

We work with older adults, younger adults, people living with dementia, and people living with physical disabilities. Our purpose is to make staying at home a realistic option when daily life has become hard to manage alone. The help covers washing and dressing, medication, meals and drinks, shopping, getting out to appointments, household tasks and company. What the visits actually look like depends entirely on the person, so we ask rather than assume. Reliability is what everything rests on. Somebody waiting to be helped out of bed cannot do anything else in the meantime, so we plan rotas so that calls arrive when we said they would, and we would sooner take on less work than accept more than we can cover. For people living with dementia we lean on familiarity: the same carer, at a familiar time, in surroundings the person already understands. Please contact us if you would like to talk about support at home.

We are Jireh Care & Recruitment, working across Westcliff on Sea and the surrounding parts of Essex. We support adults in their own homes, with visits ranging from a single short call each day through to several hours of support. We help older people with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and the household jobs that become harder with time. We support adults living with dementia, where familiar faces arriving at predictable times do more good than anything else we can offer, so we keep the same care workers with the same households as far as the rota allows. We also support people living with mental ill health, where a routine that holds and a dependable presence can matter as much as any clinical input, people with physical disabilities, taking care over equipment and how somebody prefers to be assisted, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Because recruitment is part of what we do, we put real effort into who comes through your door. Our care workers are recruited with full checks and references, trained for the particular people they support, and properly supervised afterwards. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission. Please get in touch.

We provide care and support in people's own homes in Southend on Sea and the surrounding area. Our purpose is a simple one: to make staying at home a safe and workable option, so that people keep their own surroundings, their own habits and their own say over how the day goes. Much of our work is with older adults. That can be a short visit to help with getting up, washing, dressing and medication, help with meals, shopping and keeping the house in order, or longer calls for people who need closer support and a bit of company through the day. We support people living with dementia, and we have found that what helps most is not complicated: the same familiar worker, arriving at an expected time, with the patience to do things the way this person has always done them. We work with people who have physical disabilities, helping with personal care, mobility and getting out of the house while leaving the person directing how it is done, and we support younger adults, whose care is planned around work, study, family and independence rather than a standard pattern. We keep the team around each person small and consistent wherever we can. Familiar workers notice when something has changed, often before anyone else would. Please contact us and ask us anything.

- Home Care
Surely Yours Healthcare is a home care agency in Southend on Sea, supporting adults in their own homes across the town. We visit older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with a physical disability or a sensory impairment and people managing a mental health condition. Calls range from a single short visit each morning through to several a day, covering personal care, medication, meals, help to move about the home safely, shopping, appointments and company. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We would rather set that out here than have a family come across it later, and we would encourage anyone considering us to meet the manager, ask for references and judge us on how we actually operate. A good deal of the value in regular visits lies in what a familiar person notices. Post building up, a fridge emptier than it should be, a friend who has stopped being mentioned. We expect our care workers to pass that on rather than finish the notes and move to the next call. If you are arranging care at home locally, please get in touch.

Plus Care Givers supports people in their own homes in Westcliff on Sea and across the surrounding area. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Nearly everyone who contacts us wants to carry on living where they are. Our job is to make that practical rather than to take over. Depending on what is needed, that might be a single morning call to help someone wash, dress and get the day going, several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals and company, or a longer sit so a family carer can have a few hours to themselves. The first conversation is where the work really starts. We want to know how the day usually runs, what has become hard, and what the person can still do perfectly well and would rather we left to them. Support planned that way feels like help rather than interference. Where sight or hearing is reduced, we adapt how we communicate and keep things where the person expects to find them. Where somebody has a physical disability we think properly about equipment and about not helping more than is wanted. Continuity is where we put our effort, because a familiar carer makes every part of this work better. Please ring us if you would like to talk things through.

TANS Care supports people in their own homes in Westcliff on Sea and across the surrounding area. We work with older people and with younger adults who need support to manage daily life. Nearly everyone who contacts us wants the same thing, which is to carry on living where they are. Our role is to make that practical rather than to take anything over. Depending on what is needed, that could be one call each morning to help somebody wash, dress and get the day started, several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals and company, or longer periods of support where needs are more constant. The first conversation is where the work really starts. We want to know how the day usually runs, what has become difficult, and what the person can still do perfectly well and would rather we left to them. People tend to be very clear about that, and respecting it is as much the job as the tasks we take on. For younger adults, our work is often less about personal care and more about keeping an ordinary week on track, from appointments and paperwork to getting out to work or study. Continuity is where we put our effort, because a familiar carer makes every part of this work better. Please ring us if you would like to talk things through.

SPDNS Nurse Care supports people in their own homes in Westcliff On Sea and across the surrounding area. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. That is a broad range, and it reflects how varied the need is locally. Some of the people we visit want one short call a day. Others need several visits covering personal care, medication and meals, or a carer who can stay for longer. For younger adults and for people with a learning disability, our role is often less about personal care and more about making an ordinary week workable. We begin by asking what help is actually wanted rather than working from a form. People are usually clear about what they can still manage and would rather keep doing themselves, and respecting that is as much the job as the tasks we take on. Sending familiar carers is something we plan for deliberately. For people living with dementia, for autistic adults and for people with reduced sight or hearing, a known face and a predictable visit matter more than anything else we could arrange. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to talk things through.

- Home Care
We provide care at home for people in Southend on Sea and the surrounding part of Essex. Our carers visit people where they live, helping with the parts of the day that have become difficult while leaving the rest well alone. The people we support include older people, many of them living with dementia, as well as younger adults, people with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss. Everything starts with a conversation in your own home about your routine, your preferences and where help would make the biggest difference. Visits can cover personal care, medication, cooking, shopping and housework, getting out to appointments, or simply company for somebody who sees very few people in a week. We try to keep the same small group of carers going to the same people, because a familiar face at the door changes the character of the whole visit. We want to be open with you about where we stand. The Care Quality Commission most recently judged that we require improvement overall. We did not dispute the findings. We have a plan of work in place, we are progressing it and we are reporting on that progress to the inspectors and to the local authority. We would much rather tell you this plainly than have you discover it afterwards. If you are considering care at home for yourself or a relative, please ring us and ask the awkward questions. Anybody arranging care for someone they love should be asking them, and we will answer honestly.

Arranging and funding home care in Southend-on-Sea
Support at home is paid for by the visit, so the weekly cost follows the number of calls and their length. Establishing what is needed and who pays before ringing round means the quotes you gather can actually be compared.
Getting an assessment of care needs
An assessment of care needs is free and open to anyone who appears to need help, whatever their savings. A practitioner considers washing and dressing, meals, medication, getting about the house, continence and how isolated someone has become, then sets out in writing what support would meet those needs. Families intending to fund care themselves still benefit, because an agency pricing against a written list of tasks gives a far steadier estimate.
How the local authority helps
A financial assessment then compares capital and income against the national thresholds to decide whether help with the cost is due. Both assessments, and the commissioning of support for those who qualify, rest with Southend-on-Sea City Council adult social care. A direct payment is worth raising, since it lets an eligible person choose their own agency, and an unpaid carer may request a carer assessment covering their own needs.
What the visits will cost
Hourly rates differ between providers and the advertised rate is rarely the complete figure. Ask about the shortest visit accepted, whether evenings, weekends and bank holidays carry a premium, whether travel time appears on the bill and what notice is required to cancel. Getting the charges in writing before anything is signed prevents most later arguments.
Choosing between home care agencies in Southend-on-Sea
Seventy five providers sounds daunting until you filter for who genuinely covers the address and can staff the hours needed. From there, everything turns on consistency.
Reading the inspection picture
Inspectors judge safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership separately, so the overall word conceals a good deal. Where a provider has been judged Inadequate or placed at Requires Improvement, read exactly what was found and ask the office what has changed since the visit. An absent rating usually points to a recent registration rather than a concern, though it does leave more resting on your own questions.
Questions that reveal the real service
Ask how many different carers would come across a fortnight and how leave and sickness are covered. Ask how the office confirms a visit took place, how you would hear about a late call and who to ring when nobody arrives. Ask who writes the care plan, how often it is reviewed and how quickly additional visits could be added.
Checking the fit before committing
Confirm the tasks you need can be delivered, whether medication prompts, help moving safely, meal preparation or personal care at a set time. Ask whether the same carer can cover the key visits, how notes are shared with relatives further away and whether a trial period is possible. A review a fortnight in gives both sides a natural point to adjust. It is also worth asking how the agency recruits and how much of its team has been in place for more than a year, since a settled workforce is what keeps visits predictable.
Frequently asked questions about home care in Southend-on-Sea
How many home care agencies are there in Southend-on-Sea?
Southend-on-Sea has 75 CQC registered home care agencies: 2 Outstanding, 35 Good, 5 Requires improvement, 2 Inadequate, 31 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
How much does home care cost in Southend-on-Sea?
Hourly care visits, East of England: £26.00 to £34.30 an hour. Middle half of prices from 15 agencies. Median £31.88. Shown for East of England because too few Southend-on-Sea agencies publish a rate. Published prices come from agencies that publish rates, so treat them as a guide. Ask the agency for its own price.
Which home care agencies in Southend-on-Sea were inspected most recently?
Newday Healthcare Professionals Ltd (17 September 2026), J.C.Michael Groups Ltd Southend (17 June 2026) and Concept Care Solutions (16 October 2025) have the most recent CQC reports.
How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Southend-on-Sea?
Contact the adult social care team at Southend-on-Sea City Council and ask for an assessment of care needs. The request can come from the person needing support, from a relative acting with their agreement, or from a professional such as a general practitioner or hospital discharge nurse. There is no charge and no financial test to qualify for the assessment itself. Noting down where help is needed through a typical day gives the assessor something concrete to work from.
Will Southend-on-Sea City Council contribute towards the cost?
It may, once a care needs assessment has established that support is required and a financial assessment has looked at capital and income. Savings above the upper national threshold mean the cost falls to the individual, while those below it usually attract help towards the bill. Anyone eligible can request a direct payment and then choose an agency themselves. A further assessment can be sought if needs grow or savings reduce.
Which home care providers cover Southend-on-Sea?
Seventy five registered providers match this search, among them Home Instead, SummerCare Office and Home Sweet Home Reablement Services. Each holds its own registration with the Care Quality Commission describing the regulated activities it may carry out. Coverage varies by postcode, so an agency listed for the area may not reach every street within it. Opening a profile shows the current rating and registration detail for that provider.
What is the difference between a care home and a nursing home?
A care home offers accommodation with personal support, meaning help with washing, dressing, meals, medication and daily company. A nursing home holds an additional registration requiring a qualified nurse on duty, which allows it to meet clinical needs such as wound care or complex medication. Home care is a different option again, bringing support to someone in their own house at agreed times. Many families begin with visits and consider a move only when needs outgrow what those visits can safely cover.
How soon should home care be organised?
Visits can often begin within a few weeks, though the exact times you want may not be free immediately with your preferred provider. Allowing some room lets you compare agencies, meet a coordinator and agree the care plan without rushing. Where a hospital discharge is involved, the timescale shortens and the ward team usually leads the arrangements. Making early enquiries means you choose a provider rather than accept whoever has capacity.
What should I ask when meeting a carer for the first time?
Ask which tasks the carer has been asked to do and check that this matches the plan you agreed with the office. Ask how long the visit is scheduled for and what happens when more time is genuinely needed. Check how the visit is recorded and how that information reaches both the office and the family. It is also reasonable to ask who covers when this carer is on leave.
