We provide support at home across Cornwall and south Devon, working with older people and with younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. Our work falls into two broad parts, and we do not pretend they are the same. For older people it usually means help with daily life so that somebody can stay in the house they know: washing and dressing, support with medication, meals, shopping and keeping on top of things. For younger adults, including people with learning disabilities and autistic people, it is more often about building a life of their own. Managing a home, getting to work, college or something they enjoy, handling money, keeping appointments and doing the ordinary things anyone would want to do with their week. In both cases we ask what the person actually wants help with before we suggest anything. We also try hard to send the same staff consistently, which matters everywhere and matters especially for autistic people, where a familiar face and a predictable arrangement can count for more than extra hours. Covering a large and partly rural area means being honest about what we can reliably cover rather than promising visits we cannot keep. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can call on. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
