    • Care Home

Bowood Court and Mews is a residential care home in Redditch, Worcestershire. We support older people who need help with daily life, including many living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment, as well as younger adults. We also offer respite stays. Supporting people with quite different needs works because we plan around each person rather than running the place to one pattern. Everyone here has their own plan, agreed with them and with anyone they want involved, covering not just the help they need but what they want their days to hold. The basics apply to everybody. People choose when to get up, what to eat and how much company they want. Privacy is respected, personal care is given quietly and at the person's own pace, and rooms are furnished with people's own belongings. For residents living with dementia, consistency is what helps, so we keep staffing settled and learn each person's history properly. Where somebody has limited sight or hearing, the way we approach and speak to them takes account of it. Health needs are managed alongside local GPs and community teams, and families hear from us early. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Redditch, providing a home for older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. Our aim is a settled house where help is close at hand without taking over somebody's life. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Where someone needs help with washing, dressing or moving about, we try to give it without hurry and without doing more of the task than is actually needed, because what a person can still manage themselves is worth protecting. Dementia care rests on knowing the person rather than following a procedure, so we ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits. Where sight or hearing is poor, small habits matter: saying who you are on coming into a room, speaking clearly and not moving things about without saying so. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something different. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round before deciding anything.

    • Care Home

Millcroft is a residential care home in Redditch, Worcestershire. We are home to older people and to younger adults who need support with daily living, including people living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions and people with a visual or hearing impairment. The care we give is residential rather than nursing. Staff are here day and night to help with personal care, dressing, medication and meals and to keep the household running, while local doctors and district nurses look after clinical needs. For most people that combination works well and leaves their independence largely intact. Dementia care comes down to consistency and to knowing the person. A day that runs in a familiar order, the same faces and surroundings that are easy to make sense of will settle somebody more reliably than any programme of activities. We learn about a person's working life, family and habits, because that is what explains them to us later on. Sight and hearing loss get real attention rather than being worked around, since somebody who cannot follow what is happening will withdraw, and withdrawal is far too easily mistaken for decline. Respite and short stays are available, for planned breaks and for recovery. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are welcome to come and look round Millcroft.

    • Care Home

St Martins Care Home is in Redditch. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available too. We want the home to feel like a household rather than an institution, which in practice means residents run their own days as far as they are able. People get up when they wake, eat what they actually like, and decide how much time to spend with others. Rooms are personalised from the start, and we encourage people to bring their own furniture and pictures because a room that looks like yours settles you far faster. Where someone has a physical disability or reduced sight or hearing, we pay attention to the practical details. Equipment that suits the person, a layout that stays predictable, things kept where people expect to find them, and staff who adapt how they communicate rather than expecting the person to manage. Dementia care rests on familiar staff, a steady rhythm and knowing something of a person's earlier life. Families often supply the detail that explains everything, and we ask for it early. Respite stays suit family carers needing a break and people recovering after illness. Please come and visit St Martins and ask us anything.

    • Care Home

Parklands is a residential care home in Redditch, Worcestershire. We are home to older people who need support with everyday life, including residents living with dementia, residents with mental health needs, residents with physical disabilities and residents with visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays for shorter periods. Residents here have different histories, different routines and very different ideas of a good day, so we plan support one person at a time. We ask when someone likes to wake, what they want to eat, how much help they want and where they prefer to spend the afternoon. Help with personal care, meals and medication is given quietly and with respect for privacy, and whatever a resident can still manage for themselves is protected. Dementia care shapes much of our work. Knowing a person's history and the rhythms that suit them is what allows us to reassure rather than argue when someone is unsettled. For residents with sensory loss we adapt how we communicate and how rooms and shared spaces are arranged, so that nobody is quietly left out. For residents with physical disabilities we pay attention to mobility and to the arrangements that let someone do more without help. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come and we would far rather hear a concern while it is small. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

    • Care Home

Field View Residential Home is in Redditch. We care for older people and younger adults, including many residents living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. As a residential setting our work is daily life supported well, with general practitioners, district nurses and other community professionals involved when they are needed. What we aim for is a house where people are known rather than managed. That sounds obvious and it takes discipline, because the pressures of a rota pull the other way. It means unrushed help with washing and dressing, medication given reliably, food worth looking forward to and staff who notice when a resident is quieter than usual. For people living with dementia we keep the routine predictable and the faces familiar, and we ask relatives for the details of a life that no assessment captures. Where sight or hearing is poor we check that aids are working and adapt how we communicate, because a sensory impairment can quietly push someone to the edge of a home's life. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Redditch

Dementia changes what a family needs from the council as much as what it needs from a home, and the assessment is where that gets recognised. Two processes run alongside one another: one establishes what care is required, the other what the person can reasonably contribute. Neither waits on a particular home being chosen, and starting both early is what keeps the options open.

Asking for needs to be assessed

Anyone who appears to need care and support has a right to have those needs assessed, whatever their finances. For people living in Redditch this is arranged through Worcestershire County Council, which is responsible for adult social care assessment and for funded support. Where dementia is involved, describe the difficult days rather than an average one, because an account built around good days produces an assessment that will not fit. A relative providing care can request a carer's assessment in their own name at the same time.

Where the money comes from

Each home sets its own weekly fee, shaped by the room as much as the support, so a written quotation is the only figure worth planning around. The financial assessment then determines how the cost divides between the council and the person receiving care, weighing income, savings and property. Where the council contributes it will have a view on what counts as a reasonable weekly rate, and any gap against a home's own price needs settling before a move. Ask what the fee excludes, and whether support needs that increase over time would alter it.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Redditch

Beyond the headline rating

Five Good ratings is a sound starting position, though Good spans a broad band and the report is where the distinctions appear. Compare the assessed areas individually, paying attention to safety and to how medicines are managed, and check how recently each inspection took place. The home without a published rating should not be set aside on that basis; ask when it registered and whether a first inspection has been scheduled. Field View Residential Home, Millcroft, Brambles Residential Care Home, Parklands and Bowood Court each have a profile here with that detail attached.

Questions specific to dementia

Ask what dementia training staff receive, how often it is refreshed, and who leads on it within the home. Watch how staff respond to someone who is confused or distressed, since that single observation outweighs any written policy. Ask how the home builds a picture of a person's history and habits, and how it handles walking at night, broken sleep and reluctance to eat. Visit in the late afternoon, when confusion is often at its most pronounced and the home is at its busiest.

Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Redditch

How many dementia care homes are there in Redditch?

Redditch has 6 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 11 CQC registered care homes in Redditch: 5 Good, 1 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

Which dementia care homes in Redditch were inspected most recently?

Millcroft (4 June 2025), St Martins Care Home Ltd (12 November 2024) and Bowood Court & Mews (28 March 2024) have the most recent CQC reports.

Can Worcestershire County Council help with the cost?

The answer turns on the financial assessment that Worcestershire County Council carries out alongside the care needs assessment. Savings, income and property are all taken into account against the national thresholds. Where the council does contribute, ask early about the weekly rate it regards as reasonable and whether any shortfall must be found elsewhere. Being assessed as a self funder does not cut you off from the council's advice or its knowledge of local provision.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Redditch?

Ask the adult social care team at Worcestershire County Council for a care needs assessment. You do not need a referral from a doctor and you do not need to expect council funding. Describe how the condition affects daily life on the difficult days rather than the easier ones, because the assessment should reflect the harder end of the picture. Note down who you spoke to, since that makes following up considerably easier.

How far in advance should we start looking?

Earlier than most families anticipate, because the condition tends to move in steps rather than smoothly. Time is what lets you be selective, visit more than once, and keep the person concerned at the centre of the decision. It also prevents the assessments becoming the thing that holds everything up. Where the situation is already urgent, say so plainly when you telephone, since homes sometimes keep a little flexibility in reserve.

Which residential care homes are listed for Redditch?

Registered provision for Redditch comes to six residential care homes, and all are listed below. St Martins Care Home, Field View Residential Home, Millcroft, Brambles Residential Care Home and Parklands are included in that number. The regulatory picture is five Good and one not yet rated. Availability is not fixed, so the list tells you who to approach rather than who can help immediately.

What should I ask a dementia care home in Redditch?

Start with the rota. How many permanent staff work days and nights, how much agency cover fills the gaps, and how long the manager has been there. Ask what dementia training staff receive, how often it is refreshed, and who leads on it within the home. Ask to see this week's activities and compare them with what you can see going on. Finally ask about the most recent inspection and the home's response to it.

How does a dementia care home differ from a dementia nursing home?

Registration is the thing to look at rather than the name over the door. Personal care registration covers help with washing, dressing, medication and the ordinary day; nursing registration adds qualified nurses and the clinical tasks only they can carry out. All six providers listed for Redditch on this page are registered as residential care homes rather than nursing homes. If a nursing need already exists, a home without that registration cannot meet it however good it is.
