About Us

We are Brockenhurst, a residential care home in Littlehampton, West Sussex. We look after older people who can no longer manage at home on their own, including those living with dementia, and we also offer respite stays for shorter periods.

Living here should feel like living somewhere, not being placed somewhere. People bring their own furniture and pictures, keep their own routines as far as they possibly can, and decide for themselves how much they want to join in. We pay attention to the small things that make a day bearable or pleasant: a decent breakfast, the newspaper, a walk in the garden, someone who has time to sit and listen.

For people living with dementia, we try to work with the person in front of us rather than against them. That means knowing their history, recognising what unsettles them and having the patience to go at their pace.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to gloss over it. We have taken the findings seriously, made changes to how we plan and record care and how we support our staff, and we are being checked on our progress. If you are considering Brockenhurst for someone you love, ask us about it when you visit and we will answer properly.
