About Us
The Old School House is a residential care home in Telford supporting older people, younger adults, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, people with loss of sight or hearing, and people living with eating disorders.
We should be open about our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, which is requires improvement. We would rather raise it ourselves. We know which areas were identified, we have a plan of work under way covering staff training and supervision, our record keeping, and how people and their families are involved in decisions, and we are glad to talk through where we have got to.
The work of the house continues properly meanwhile. Support is built around the individual rather than around a label. Where somebody is living with an eating disorder, mealtimes call for a particular kind of patience and consistency rather than ordinary prompting, and we make sure staff understand that. Communication gets particular attention, using speech, signing, symbols or simply familiarity.
Short respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Please come and see the house and ask us anything.
