About Us

Deansfield Residential Care Home is in Telford, providing residential care for older people, with respite stays available too. We are a home for people who need support with daily life rather than nursing care, and many of our residents live with dementia.

A care home should feel like somewhere people live. The difference between that and somewhere people are placed shows up in unremarkable details: whether you can get up when you want, whether your own things are around you, whether you are asked rather than told, whether the day has any shape you recognise as your own. We pay attention to those because they are what residents notice.

Our dementia care rests on familiarity and patience. The same staff, a routine that keeps its shape, surroundings that make sense, and the willingness to give somebody time to respond in their own way. When a resident becomes distressed we look for the cause, which is usually pain, confusion, boredom or fear, rather than managing the behaviour and moving on.

Respite guests become part of the household from the first day. Often a short stay is somebody's first experience of a care home, and it should leave them reassured.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good.

Families are welcome to visit without booking, and anyone considering a place should come and see the home.
