About Us

Here at Hermitage Way in Telford, we provide residential care for a range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and individuals living with a learning disability or autism. We also offer respite care for those who need a short break from their usual arrangements, whether planned in advance or at shorter notice.

We are proud to have received a rating of "good" from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts in each and every day to make sure the people in our care feel safe, respected, and at home.

Our focus is on getting to know each person properly. Everyone who comes to live with us, whether for a short stay or the longer term, has their own story, preferences, and ways of doing things. We take time to understand what matters to each individual and try to build care around that rather than fitting people into a routine that suits us.

For those living with a learning disability or autism, we recognise how important consistency and familiarity can be. We work hard to create an environment that feels calm and predictable, while still offering meaningful activity and genuine choice.

Families and loved ones are always welcome here. We believe good care extends beyond the person receiving it, and we try to keep communication open and honest so that families feel informed and involved.

Telford is a community we are very much part of, and we value the relationships we have built locally over time.

If you are thinking about care for yourself or someone close to you, we would warmly encourage you to get in touch or come and have a look around. We are happy to talk things through without any pressure, and to help you work out whether Hermitage Way might be the right fit.

More about the care at Hermitage Way - Telford

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

The good rating here rests on an inspection in February 2020, which is now some years old. For older residents the day covers help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and company, and the home says it takes time to understand each person's story and ways of doing things. It adds that it tries to build care around the individual rather than fitting people into a routine that suits staff. Families and visitors are always welcome by its own account. Ask how many staff are awake overnight in this Telford home, how quickly help arrives, and what has changed since the last inspection.

Learning Disability / Autism

Consistency and familiarity are what this home says matter most for a learning disability or autism, alongside an environment that feels calm and predictable. It also says that should come with meaningful activity and genuine choice rather than quiet alone. Ask who holds the relevant training, how sensory needs are recorded, and how Telford and Wrekin commissions and reviews a placement.

Younger Adults

Telford and Wrekin council usually pays about £680 to £820 a week, against regional fees of £850 to £1150. Hermitage Way is registered for younger adults as well as older people, so there may be more contemporaries here than in a typical care home. Ask who else of a similar age lives there, what the week offers them, and how much choice residents have over it.

Respite Care

Respite here is offered for a short break from usual arrangements, planned in advance or at shorter notice, which is unusual and useful. Short stays often carry a minimum length, so ask what that is and how far ahead a bed must be booked. Pack medication and a note of routines, and use the stay to judge whether the home would suit permanently.

Residential Care

HF Trust has held the registration for Hermitage Way since 15 August 2013, so this is a settled operation. Residential care means support with everyday living rather than nursing, so personal care, medication, cooked meals and a day with some shape are included, but no registered nurse is on site. Anyone whose health needs regular clinical attention would be looking at a nursing home instead. West Midlands weekly fees usually run from £850 to £1150, while Telford and Wrekin council pays about £680 to £820. Ask what the fee covers, what costs extra, and how any gap between the two figures would be met.
