About Beechwood
Beechwood is a residential care home at Hindhead supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people living with sight or hearing loss, including many younger adults. Communication is where our work begins. Where somebody has sight or hearing loss alongside a learning disability, the ordinary ways of getting information across often do not work, so we take our lead from the person and use whatever suits them, and we say who we are as we come into a room and never move things without mentioning it. Getting that right is the difference between somebody being included in their own life and being managed. Support is planned individually. Some residents need help with most parts of the day; others need little practical help but rely on us for routine, encouragement and staff who know them well enough to read a mood or a gesture. We keep the team consistent for exactly that reason. Everyday life covers cooking, shopping, laundry, keeping your own room as you want it, choosing what to do at the weekend and getting out locally. Respite stays are available and give family carers a proper break. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.
