About Us
The Maples Residential Home is a care home in Newcastle under Lyme. We look after older people who have found that managing alone has become more of a struggle than a pleasure, including many people living with dementia.
We try to keep life here ordinary. People get up when they wake, eat food they recognise and enjoy, and spend the day as they choose, in company or quietly on their own. Good dementia care is mostly a matter of unremarkable things done consistently, familiar faces, meals at the times someone expects them, routines that hold together from one day to the next, and staff with enough time to let a conversation take as long as it takes. We would rather shape our day around a person than ask a person to fall in with ours. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to come.
We also offer respite stays, whether to give a family carer a proper break or to support somebody through a period of recovery after illness or hospital.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. The better test, we think, is whether somebody seems settled and content after a few weeks here, and that is what we keep asking ourselves.
If you would like to look round, please ring and come at a time that suits you.
