About Us
We are 114 Douglas Road in Newcastle Under Lyme, a residential care home run by Staffordshire County Council. We support older people and younger adults with a wide span of needs, including residents living with dementia, adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, residents with mental health needs, residents with physical disabilities and residents with visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays for shorter periods.
This is a house in an ordinary street, and that is the point. The people who live here are part of the local community rather than set apart from it, and our job is to help each of them live the life they choose. Support is planned one person at a time. We help with personal care where it is wanted, with meals, medication and appointments, and with the practical business of running a home. We also support people to get out locally and to stay close to family and friends.
Communication and routine are at the centre of good support here. We take time to learn how each person prefers information to be given, how they tell us that something is wrong and which parts of the day need to stay the same. For residents with sensory loss we adapt how we communicate and how rooms are arranged.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
