About Us
Florence House is a residential care home in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia or with mental ill health, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays.
We run the home as a household. Residents keep their own routines and their own things around them, choose how they spend the day and what they eat, and are helped with washing, dressing, medication and getting about in the way that suits them.
Supporting a mixed group works when everybody is treated as an individual. Some people want quiet and routine, others want company and activity, and both are entirely reasonable ways to live. For people living with dementia, our team relies on knowing the person, their history and the things that reassure them. For those with a sensory impairment, we think carefully about lighting, sound and how we approach somebody.
Families are welcome here at any reasonable time and we keep in touch with them honestly rather than waiting for a crisis.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
If you are looking at residential care locally, please arrange to visit, meet the team and take your time over the decision.
