About Us
Here at Martham Lodge Residential Care Home, we provide a warm and homely environment for older people living in the Great Yarmouth area of Norfolk. We believe that moving into a care home should feel like a natural next step, not a difficult one, and we work hard to make sure every person who comes through our doors feels genuinely welcome and at ease from the very start.
We offer residential care, dementia care and respite care, so whether someone is joining us on a permanent basis or coming to stay for a short period of rest and recovery, we are well placed to provide the right level of support. Our team takes the time to get to know each resident as an individual, understanding their routines, preferences and the things that matter most to them in daily life. That personal approach shapes everything we do.
For those living with dementia, we understand how important consistency, familiarity and calm surroundings can be. We take a considered and thoughtful approach to supporting residents and their families through what can be a challenging journey, making sure communication is always open and honest.
Our most recent Care Quality Commission rating is good, and while we are proud of that recognition, we see it as a reflection of the everyday commitment our team brings rather than a reason to stand still. We are always looking at how we can improve and grow.
Families are very much part of life here at Martham Lodge. We encourage visitors, welcome involvement in care planning and want relatives to feel confident and reassured about their loved one's wellbeing.
If you would like to find out more about what we offer or come and have a look around, please do get in touch. We would be very happy to hear from you.

More about the care at Martham Lodge Residential Care Home
What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.
Older Person Care
Washing, dressing and taking tablets on time are the tasks that tend to slip first, and they are the reason most families start looking at a care home. Martham Lodge Residential Care Home is registered for older person care, so help with personal care, medication and daily routine falls within what it is set up to offer. Good homes treat companionship as part of that package rather than an extra, because the quiet hours after lunch can be the hardest of the day. Ask who will help your relative in the morning and whether they can still choose their own waking time. Ask too how many staff are awake through the night and how quickly a call bell is answered. Norfolk County Council usually pays around £750 to £900 a week, which is worth raising before paperwork is signed.
Dementia
Familiarity does most of the work in dementia care, which is why the same faces, the same mealtimes and a layout somebody can learn tend to matter more than any brochure. Martham Lodge Residential Care Home is registered for dementia care, and its own text describes consistency, calm surroundings and honest communication with families as the approach taken. Testing how that works in practice is the point of a visit. Ask how the home responds when somebody becomes distressed in the evening, and what it does when a resident wants to leave or keeps walking the corridors. Ask also whether a person can stay as dementia advances, or whether a move would eventually be needed. Inspectors rated the home good in July 2019, a judgement now several years old, so current families are the better source on today's standards.
Respite Care
Short stays need booking further ahead than families expect, since rooms freed by holidays and hospital discharges go quickly. Respite care falls within the registration at Martham Lodge Residential Care Home, and a week or two can serve as a trial run for permanent care. Pack familiar clothes, medication in its original packaging and a few photographs that make the room feel known. Ask what the minimum stay is and whether the fee differs from the longer term rate.
Residential Care
Residential care means support with everyday living rather than clinical treatment, so meals, laundry, personal care and company through the day sit at the core of it. At Martham Lodge Residential Care Home in Great Yarmouth the registration covers residential care, and the home's own description emphasises a warm and homely setting for older people from the surrounding area. The dividing line with nursing care matters, because a nursing home keeps registered nurses on duty for complex medication or wound care, while a residential home calls in district nurses as needed. Weekly fees across the East typically run between £1000 and £1350, though that is a regional guide rather than this home's price. Ask what the fee actually includes, and what would happen if your relative's needs grew beyond residential care.
