About Us

Highbury Residential Home is in Loughborough. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities, autistic people and people managing mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays.

We are a home where people are known by name and by habit. Staff know who takes sugar, who wants breakfast late, who likes the television on and who cannot bear it. That sounds like a small thing. In a care home it is most of what separates a comfortable life from an institutional one.

When someone moves in we spend proper time on their history and their preferences, and we write it down so that everyone working here knows it. Where someone is living with dementia we keep the day predictable, we avoid unnecessary change and we work out what reassures that particular person, since it is rarely the same twice.

Supporting people with mental health needs means being consistent and patient, and working alongside community teams and GPs rather than in parallel with them. For autistic residents we give advance notice of change and protect quiet space.

Meals are cooked here and residents have a say in the menu. Families are welcome throughout the day and can stay for a meal.

If you are considering care in Loughborough, please come and see the home for yourself and talk to the people living here.
