About Pine Lodge Care Home

We are Pine Lodge Care Home in Sittingbourne, Kent. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also take respite stays. Residential care means supporting people with the parts of daily life that have become hard work and leaving everything else in the hands of the person themselves. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, getting about safely, and the ordinary company that makes a day worth getting up for. For health needs beyond what we provide, we work alongside district nurses and GPs rather than stretching to cover something we should not, and we are straightforward with families about where that line falls. A home of our size has an advantage worth mentioning, which is that staff genuinely know everybody who lives here. Not just the care plan but the preferences, the history, the small things that make a difference to somebody's day. That knowledge is what good care is actually built on. Dementia shapes a good deal of our work. We have found that correcting somebody's account of things achieves nothing, and that knowing who a person has been tells us far more than any list of symptoms. Distress nearly always has a cause, and it is more often practical than people expect. Respite guests are assessed and welcomed exactly as permanent residents are, whether they are recovering from illness or giving a family carer a break.
