About Bridge House

Bridge House is a residential care home in Sittingbourne, Kent, supporting adults with a learning disability and adults who are autistic. We work with younger adults and we can offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Support here is planned around individuals rather than around a house routine. We take the time to learn how each person communicates, what they enjoy, what unsettles them and how they like things done. The week belongs to the person, whether that means work, college, volunteering, regular time with family or a settled routine that nobody interferes with. People choose their own food, keep their own belongings and habits, and have a genuine say in how the house is run. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, whether that is cooking, using public transport or managing their own money, we support it patiently and expect it to take as long as it takes. When a person becomes distressed, we treat it as information rather than as behaviour to be controlled. There is nearly always a reason, and knowing somebody well is what allows us to find it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you would like to visit, or to talk about a permanent place or a respite stay, please get in touch and we will arrange a time.
