About Us
Here at The Firs, we are a residential care home nestled in the coastal town of Frinton on Sea, Essex. We support a wide range of individuals, including older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also offer respite care for those who need short term support or whose family carers need a well earned break.
We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a person or their family will ever make, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our aim is straightforward: to make sure everyone who lives here feels safe, respected, and genuinely at home. We take the time to understand each person as an individual, learning about their routines, preferences, and the things that matter most to them, so that the care and support we provide fits around their life rather than the other way around.
Frinton on Sea is a wonderfully calm and welcoming place, and we feel that setting reflects the atmosphere we try to create within The Firs itself. There is a real sense of community here, both within our walls and in the wider town, and we work hard to make sure the people we support can remain connected to the things and people they love.
We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which we see as a reflection of the consistent, thoughtful approach our whole team brings to their work each day. That said, we never stand still. We are always looking at how we can do better and listening to the people we support and their loved ones to make sure we are getting things right.
If you would like to find out more or come and have a look around, we would love to hear from you.

Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?
Yes. The Firs is registered for dementia care, so someone whose needs increase can usually stay rather than move. Ask how they support people in the later stages. Source: CQC register

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Yes. The Firs supports younger adults as well as older people. Source: CQC register
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
