About Us
Arundel House is a residential care home in Frinton on Sea, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people with physical disabilities. Most of those living here are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays.
We treat this as where people live rather than where they have been placed. People arrange their own rooms, have a real say in the food and the shopping, and are involved in how the household runs. Where somebody can do a thing themselves, our job is to make that possible rather than to do it faster on their behalf.
Where somebody wants work, a course, a club or simply somewhere regular to go, we treat that as the purpose of our support rather than an extra bolted on. Being in a small seaside town helps with that, because people become known in the shops and cafes they use, and being recognised locally does more for confidence than any amount of arranged activity.
We are careful about routine and about explaining change in good time, since for many of those here that is what makes a day workable.
Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking the people who live here what they would change about the place, and we act on what we are told.
