About Us
Here at Elizabeth Court Rest Home, we are proud to offer a warm and genuinely homely environment in the heart of Bexhill On Sea, East Sussex. We support a wide range of individuals, including older adults, people living with dementia, those with learning disabilities or autism, adults experiencing mental health difficulties, and younger adults who need a supportive place to call home. We also offer respite care for those who need a shorter stay, whether planned or at short notice.
We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a person and their family will ever make. That is why we work hard to ensure that everyone who walks through our doors feels genuinely valued and listened to. Care plans are built around the individual, not the other way around, and we regularly review these together with residents and their loved ones to make sure we are getting things right.
Our team take the time to get to know each resident properly, understanding their routines, preferences, histories and what matters most to them day to day. We believe that good care is rooted in real relationships, and we are committed to maintaining the dignity and independence of every person in our care.
We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of good, which reflects the efforts of our whole team and the trust that residents and families place in us. We never see this as a reason to stand still, and we are always looking at how we can continue to improve.
If you would like to find out more about life at Elizabeth Court Rest Home, or if you would like to arrange a visit, we would be very happy to hear from you.

More about the care at Elizabeth Court Rest Home
What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.
Older Person Care
Comfort for an older resident comes down to practical things: a warm room, food worth eating, help given kindly and without delay. Elizabeth Court Rest Home is registered for older person care. Personal care, medication and companionship form the bulk of what staff provide. Ask how preferences about washing, dressing and mealtimes are recorded and respected. Night cover is the detail most worth pinning down, including numbers on duty and response times. Weekly fees in the South East commonly run from 1100 to 1450 pounds, against a council rate of roughly 800 to 950.
Dementia
Someone with dementia copes best where the surroundings stay constant and the staff are not in a hurry. Dementia care is one of the registrations held by Elizabeth Court Rest Home. Ask how the home settles a new resident and how it learns their history and habits. Find out how distress and attempts to leave are handled, and how doors and gardens are managed. Establish what dementia training staff receive and how often it is refreshed. Ask too how families are involved as the condition advances.
Learning Disability / Autism
Routines that belong to the resident rather than the home are the first thing to look for in learning disability and autism support. Elizabeth Court Rest Home is registered for this group. Ask how each plan is written, how sensory needs are managed in shared spaces, and how often placements are reviewed.
Mental Health
Being left in peace when peace is what is wanted matters as much as any organised support. Elizabeth Court Rest Home holds a mental health registration. Ask what experience the staff team has, how the home works with community mental health services, and what the plan is during a crisis.
Younger Adults
A younger resident in a home full of much older people needs something built deliberately around them. Elizabeth Court Rest Home is registered to support adults under 65. Ask about the current age mix, what younger residents do with their time, and how easily they can get out.
Respite Care
Respite is often arranged in a hurry, after an illness or when a carer simply cannot continue. Elizabeth Court Rest Home is registered to take short stay residents. Ask how quickly a place can be offered, what the minimum stay is, and what should be brought along.
Residential Care
A rest home provides staffed support for daily living, which is a different thing from the clinical care a nursing home offers. Elizabeth Court Rest Home in Bexhill on Sea is registered for residential care. Meals, laundry, help with personal care, medication and activities are the substance of the service. Inspectors rated the home good when they visited in April 2020. Health needs are covered by district nurses and the local surgery rather than employed nursing staff. Ask what the fee covers and what would happen if a resident's needs increased substantially.

Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Yes. Elizabeth Court Rest Home supports younger adults as well as older people. Source: CQC register
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
