About Us
We are Cedarwood House Care Home in Battle, East Sussex. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also take respite bookings.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we are not going to write around it. We have looked closely at what the inspection found, changed how care is planned, recorded and reviewed, and strengthened the training and supervision of our staff. Our progress is being monitored, and we tell relatives the same things we tell the regulator.
What we are working to protect while we do that is ordinary life here. People arrive with their own furniture, pictures and habits, and those come first. What time you wake, where you take your breakfast, whether you feel sociable today or would rather sit quietly: those remain your decisions. For people living with dementia, the useful work is in the detail, knowing somebody's history and the work they did, recognising early what tends to unsettle them, and going at their pace rather than the rota's.
If you are considering Cedarwood House for someone, please come and see us and ask about the rating directly. We would rather answer that fully than have it hanging over the conversation.
