About Us
Here at Abbey Lodge, we are a residential care home nestled in the heart of Battle, East Sussex, and we are proud to call this corner of the county our home. We welcome a wide range of people through our doors, including older adults, younger adults, and individuals living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, or mental health needs. We also offer respite care for those who need a short term stay, whether planned or at short notice.
We know that choosing a care home, for yourself or someone you love, is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. We do not take that lightly. Our aim is to make sure that everyone who comes to us feels genuinely at ease, respected, and heard from the very first conversation. We take time to get to know each person, understanding their routines, their preferences, and what matters to them day to day.
Our team works hard to create an environment that feels like a real home rather than an institution. We pay attention to the small things, because in our experience, the small things are rarely small at all. Whether it is how someone likes their morning tea, a favourite television programme, or simply having someone sit and chat for a while, these moments shape the quality of life we are able to offer.
We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in a rating of Good, which reflects the commitment of every member of our team to providing thoughtful, consistent care.
If you would like to find out more about Abbey Lodge or come and have a look around, we would be very happy to hear from you. We are always happy to answer questions and help you make the right decision at what can be a challenging time.

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.

Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
