About Us
Eden Manor Care Home is a residential care home in Carlisle. We support older people who need help with daily life, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays for short periods. Most of the people who live here come from Carlisle and the surrounding country, and that shared background does real work. Familiar names, familiar places and familiar talk give people something to hold on to, and an unhurried conversation over a cup of tea is worth more than most organised activity. Residents decide how their own day runs. When to get up and go to bed, what to eat, whether to sit with others or keep to their room. People bring their own furniture and pictures, and we help them make the room feel like theirs rather than a hospital space. Where somebody has limited sight or hearing, we make sure the way we approach and speak to them takes that into account, and that the surroundings are arranged so they can get about confidently. For residents living with dementia we keep things calm, familiar and consistent and work from each person's own history to make sense of what they are telling us. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Please come and visit us in Carlisle.
