About Berkeley Lodge

Berkeley Lodge provides nursing care in Worthing for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss. We also take planned respite stays. Qualified nurses are here throughout the day and night, and that changes what is possible. Conditions can be managed as they change rather than in emergencies, medicines get proper review, and people who would otherwise be moved repeatedly between home and hospital can be cared for here by staff who know them well. For people nearing the end of life, it means comfort and familiar faces. Nursing is only part of the picture. The people here are residents before they are patients, so we work at keeping ordinary life intact. Residents decide when to get up and how to spend the day, meals are meant to be enjoyed, and relatives are welcome whenever they want to come. For residents living with dementia we keep the day familiar and the pace gentle, and we work with what somebody can still do. Respite stays give family carers a genuine break and support people who need nursing care for a period before going home. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking residents and families what they think of us, because an inspection is a snapshot and daily life is the real test.
