About Us
Blind Veterans UK in Rustington provides nursing and residential care for blind and vision impaired ex service men and women, near Littlehampton on the West Sussex coast. We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss, and we offer respite stays.
Everyone here has served, and everyone here has lost some or all of their sight. Both facts shape how we work. Sight loss changes how a room should be arranged and kept, how people are greeted and identified, how choices are offered and how much warning somebody needs before anything moves. We build the whole place around that rather than treating it as an adjustment, and we train our staff specifically for it.
The shared experience of service matters too. People here understand each other's histories without having to explain them, and that does something for people that no programme can manufacture.
Having qualified nurses on duty at all hours means we can care for people with substantial health needs on site, and support people through changing needs without another move.
Families are welcome and are part of how decisions get made. We have not yet had a full inspection under our current registration, so please come, look closely and ask us whatever you want.
