About Us

Aronel Cottage Care Home is a nursing home in Bognor Regis, providing nursing care for older people.

We will start with the rating, because you are entitled to it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to talk around that. The inspection identified things that were not good enough, we accept the findings rather than dispute them, and we are working through what was raised. Anybody considering the home for themselves or a relative should ask us directly what was found and what has changed since, and we will give you a straight account rather than a reassuring one.

The purpose of the home is unchanged. Qualified nurses are on site at all hours, which is what allows people with substantial health needs to live here rather than being moved repeatedly between home and hospital. Medication, wound care, careful attention to nutrition, pain and skin, and catching deterioration early are the substance of our days.

Being small, we have no excuse for not knowing people properly. The residents here are adults with histories and preferences, and a serious health need does not remove anybody's right to decide when they get up, what they wear or who comes into their room.

Come and see us at a busy time of day, speak to the people who live and work here, and judge the place as it is now rather than as a grade describes it.

The most recent overall rating here is requires improvement, from an inspection on 27 April 2022, and 55 of the 102 homes nearby have published a newer report since. The current registration began on 1 October 2026, so that judgement may relate to an earlier provider and should not be credited to the present one either way. Aronel Cottage is registered for older person care with nursing, meaning help with washing, dressing, meals and medication alongside clinical attention. The home says being small gives it no excuse for not knowing people properly, and that a serious health need removes nobody's right to decide when they get up. Ask directly what the inspection found and what has changed, which the home says it will answer straight.

Nursing Care

Thirty eight places put Aronel Cottage above the local average of 30 and larger than 73 of the 102 homes in the area. Qualified nurses are on site at all hours, which the home says allows people with substantial health needs to live there rather than move between home and hospital. Medication, wound care, attention to nutrition, pain and skin, and catching deterioration early are described as the substance of its days. Fees in the South East commonly run from £1350 to £1750 a week, and West Sussex usually pays about £950 to £1150. NHS Funded Nursing Care contributes about £235 a week towards the nursing element where a resident qualifies. St Richard's Hospital in Chichester is 5.6 miles off, so ask how a deterioration is handled before that point.
