About Huntington House

Huntington House is a nursing home in Hindhead. We care for older people whose health needs mean qualified nurses should be close at hand, including many people living with dementia, and we also support younger adults with nursing needs. Having nurses on site means people do not have to move on when their health changes, which spares a great deal of upheaval for someone who is frail and a great deal of anxiety for their family. It also means relatives can stop managing a rota of appointments and treatments and go back to being a daughter, a husband or a friend. Around the nursing, we keep life as ordinary and unhurried as we can. People choose when to get up, what they eat and how they spend their days. For people living with dementia we hold routines steady and allow plenty of time, because hurrying somebody who is confused achieves nothing and distresses everyone. We also offer respite stays, for a family carer needing a break or for someone who needs nursing support for a period after hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. We keep our own checks going in between, because consistency is what people here actually need from us. If you are considering nursing care for someone close to you, please come and see us on a normal day and meet the people who would be looking after them.
