About Leighton House Private Nursing Home
Leighton House is a private nursing home in Epsom, providing nursing care to older adults and to some younger adults, with respite stays available. We support residents living with dementia and residents with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. Having qualified nurses on duty at all hours means health needs are recognised and dealt with here, by people who already know the resident, rather than through a hospital admission that frail or confused people find distressing and often return from weaker than before. Families can also get a proper clinical answer when they ring rather than waiting for somebody to call back. For residents with a sensory impairment the practical detail counts for a great deal: good lighting, clear contrast, sitting where your face can be seen, and taking the time to be understood. For residents living with dementia, familiarity and an unhurried routine achieve more than anything else, and we build the day around that rather than around the rota. We try to keep the nursing in the background. It has to be done correctly and then got out of the way so that the day belongs to the resident: their meals, their visitors, their interests and some fresh air. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. Anyone considering a place here is welcome to visit and see how the home runs on an ordinary day.
