About Garth House
Garth House is a nursing home in Dorking, and Surrey has been our home for a long time. We care for older people whose needs go beyond help with daily living and into qualified nursing, and we keep registered nurses on duty at every hour so that a change in someone's health can be met here, by people who already know them, rather than somewhere unfamiliar. Dementia care is a large part of our work. We spend time learning how a person likes their day to run, what settles them and what does not, and we shape the routine around that rather than the other way round. Relatives often tell us it is the small details that matter most, and those are the ones we try hardest to hold on to. We also support younger adults whose nursing needs mean an ordinary residential setting would not be right for them, and we offer respite stays for people recovering after a spell in hospital or for families who need a genuine break. Anyone staying with us for a short while is part of the household from the first morning. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat that as a floor rather than a ceiling, and we keep asking residents and their families what we could do better. If you are weighing up nursing care for someone you love, please come and see us. Look around, meet the people who live here and ask us anything at all.
