About Aurem Care (Glebe House)

Aurem Care provides nursing care in Caterham for older people and younger adults, including people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss. We also offer planned respite stays. Having qualified nurses on site at every hour changes what we can offer. Health conditions can be watched and managed as they shift rather than handled as crises, medicines get proper review, and people who would otherwise move repeatedly between home and hospital can be looked after here by staff who know them. For people approaching the end of life, it means comfort and familiar faces rather than an ambulance. Clinical care by itself would not make this a good place to live, though. Residents decide when to get up, what to wear and how to spend the day. Meals are meant to be enjoyed. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to come, without ringing ahead. Where somebody has a physical disability, we work out with them how they want to be helped, and where somebody has sight or hearing loss we take care over how we approach and speak with them. Respite stays give family carers a genuine break and help people who need nursing support for a while before returning home. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking residents and families what they think, because daily life is the real measure.
