About Greengates

We are a nursing home in the Bristol area, providing nursing care for adults living with mental health conditions. We also take people for respite stays where a period of nursing support is what is needed rather than a permanent move. Nursing care and mental health care are often treated as separate things, and for the people we support they are not. Somebody may have physical health needs that require qualified nursing attention and, at the same time, need an environment that is calm, predictable and free of the pressure that makes everything harder. Bringing those together is the work. We take time at the start to understand what somebody's life has been like, what helps when things are difficult, what does not, and what they want to be different. We involve the person in their own plan wherever we can, and we involve the professionals already working with them. Recovery and stability are not tidy processes, so we expect plans to change and we review them properly rather than as a formality. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are a family member, or a professional looking for a placement, we are happy to talk in detail about whether we would be the right setting for a particular person. We would rather have that conversation honestly at the start than take on something we cannot do well. Please get in touch.
