About Us
The Headington Care Home is a nursing home in Oxford. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia and residents managing mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays for people who need qualified care for a set period.
Having nurses on duty at all hours means health needs are met here rather than through repeated journeys elsewhere, and it means changes in someone's condition are usually picked up early. Around that, the point of the home is that people live here. Residents keep their own furniture and photographs, choose when they get up, decide how sociable they want to be, and carry on with their interests wherever we can make it possible.
For residents living with dementia, steadiness matters more than anything else we could offer. Familiar staff, a familiar routine and an unhurried pace prevent a good deal of distress. We take time to learn about a person's earlier life, because knowing about their work, their family and their habits is what allows us to reassure them in a way that means something.
Families are welcome throughout the day and their knowledge is treated as part of the care rather than as background. We would always rather hear about a concern while it is small.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering nursing care in Oxford, please arrange to visit and ask us whatever you need to.
