About Us

Green Gates is a nursing home in Oxford caring for older people and younger adults. Qualified nurses are on duty at every hour of the day and night, working alongside carers who know the people here well.

Most families come to us at the point when nursing care has become necessary, often quite suddenly, and the move can feel abrupt. We try to make it as settled as possible: learning how somebody likes their day to run, keeping the faces around them consistent, and giving relatives a clear account of how their family member is rather than leaving them to guess.

Nursing on the premises means pain relief, wound care and changing health needs are attended to promptly and properly. It also means our nurses take time over the things that are not clinical at all, such as whether somebody is eating enough, sleeping badly or simply feeling low.

Meals are cooked on the premises and adapted where swallowing or appetite is a difficulty. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour, and we would much rather hear a concern early than late.

Short stays are available, which often helps when a carer at home needs a rest or somebody needs nursing support for a period after illness. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring if you would like to come and see us.
