About Ruby House

We are Ruby House, a nursing home in Grimsby. We care for older people and younger adults who need qualified nursing alongside support with daily living, including people living with mental health conditions. Respite stays are available. Having nurses on duty at all hours means health needs and medication can be looked after properly as they change, so that nobody has to move on simply because their needs have increased. That continuity matters a great deal, particularly to families who have already been through several moves. Much of what we do is about structure without rigidity. For a lot of the people who live here, a predictable day, a decent meal, a proper night's sleep, medication that is right and taken, and somebody who notices how you are doing make the difference between coping and struggling. Equally, this is somewhere people live rather than a programme they are put through, so they see their families, keep up their own interests and decide how the day goes. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we have, we would encourage families and commissioners to ask us detailed questions about nursing cover, staffing, training and how support is planned here.
