What the inspectors found
A plain English summary of the Care Quality Commission inspection behind the current rating of Emerald House. Report published 30 July 2022.
- Visited 8 June 2022, a planned comprehensive inspection.
- 3 places, 3 people were using the service at the time
Safe
Inspectors found problems with medicines. Some staff gave medicines without up to date competency checks, and controlled drugs were not covered. There was no secure storage or recording for controlled drugs, and the manager ordered it on the day of the inspection. Staff were recruited safely and there were enough staff.
Caring
Inspectors found that people received kind and compassionate care. Staff protected and respected people's privacy and dignity.
Responsive
Inspectors found that staff understood and responded to each person's individual needs.
Well-led
Inspectors found the quality checks were not strong enough to spot the risks found during the inspection. CQC found a breach of the rules on medicine management and oversight. It asked the provider for an action plan and said it would keep monitoring the service.
