About Us
We are a community inpatient unit in Grimsby providing nursing care for adults who need a period of skilled support that cannot easily be given at home. The people we care for are mostly older, though we also support younger adults, and many are living with dementia, a physical disability or a sensory impairment.
Qualified nurses are on duty at every hour. Much of our work involves supporting people through recovery, managing conditions that have become unstable, and helping somebody regain enough strength and confidence to return home where that is possible. We work closely with hospital teams, GPs, therapists and community services so that a stay here fits into the wider picture rather than standing apart from it.
A stay in a unit like this often follows a difficult few weeks. People arrive tired, sometimes frightened, and usually with family who want to know what happens next. We try to explain things plainly, to include relatives in decisions where the person wants that, and to keep the place calm.
We also provide respite care.
At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated the service Requires Improvement. We would rather state that openly than leave it unsaid, and we are willing to discuss the findings with anyone who asks.
