About Ashminster House

Ashminster House is a nursing home in Ashford, Kent. We care for older adults, including many people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Registered nurses are part of the team here at all hours. People usually come to us at a point when things have become difficult, whether because a condition has progressed, because a hospital stay has changed what somebody can manage, or because a family carer can no longer carry what they have been carrying. We try to make that transition as gentle as it can be, which mostly means listening carefully at the start and not rushing anybody into our way of doing things. The clinical care has to be right and we hold ourselves to that. Alongside it, we pay attention to the parts of life that are easily lost in a nursing home. Familiar belongings, food somebody actually likes, a say in when the day begins, visitors who are welcome rather than tolerated, and quiet when quiet is wanted. For people living with dementia, calm surroundings and a steady routine do more good than almost anything else, and we protect both. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please contact us if you would like to look round or talk about a place.
