About Us

We provide nursing care in Hitchin for people with physical disabilities, adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults and older people, whose needs require qualified nursing alongside day to day support.

Where somebody has a physical disability, the practical detail of care matters enormously: how a person prefers to be helped to move, what equipment they use, how long things take and what makes them feel safe rather than handled. We take that detail seriously, and with registered nurses on duty we can manage medication, pain, skin care, continence and the difficulties people have with eating, drinking and breathing properly and without waiting.

What we try to protect alongside that is an ordinary life. People here decide when they get up, what they wear, what they eat, what is on and who they want around. For younger adults in particular, being supported should not mean giving up having a say in the day, so we work at keeping people connected to family, friends and whatever they want to do outside the house.

We work closely with general practitioners, community teams and therapists and keep families properly informed. Respite stays are available as well as longer places.

Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and see us and ask whatever you need to.
