About Us
Fairfield Manor provides both residential and nursing care near Hitchin. We support older people and younger adults, including many living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays.
Offering residential and nursing care under one roof means somebody whose health needs grow does not have to move again. That is the main practical reason families choose a place like this, and it is worth saying plainly rather than dressing up. Being moved is hard on anybody, and hardest on somebody living with dementia, for whom familiar faces and surroundings are doing genuine work.
The rest of what we do is the ordinary business of a household. Food people want to eat. Help arriving without a long wait. Laundry that comes back. Privacy when it is wanted and company when it is not. Being spoken to as somebody with a working life and a family.
Where a resident communicates differently we deal with that properly rather than half doing it.
Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Relatives are welcome to arrive unannounced.
