About Us
Lavender Fields is a care home with nursing in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, we support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a shorter period.
Having qualified nurses here means somebody whose health is complicated can stay with us as their needs change rather than being moved on, and it means clinical decisions get made promptly by people who already know them.
Nursing is not the whole of the job, though. For adults with a learning disability in particular, what matters is an ordinary life with the clinical support running quietly alongside it. People choose how their rooms look, how they spend their time and who visits, and where somebody needs support to make a decision we give it in whatever form works for them rather than deciding on their behalf.
Predictability matters to many of the people here, so we keep to what has been agreed and explain changes properly and in good time.
We want to be plain about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We accept that finding and are working through the areas it identified. Please visit, ask us about it directly and judge us on what you find here.
