About Us

Here at St Fillans Care Home in Colchester, Essex, we provide nursing care for older people, those living with dementia, younger adults, and individuals who need short term respite support. Our team works hard every day to make sure that everyone who lives here feels genuinely at home, respected, and looked after in a way that reflects their individual needs and preferences.

We know that choosing a care home, whether for yourself or for someone you love, is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. We do not take that lightly. From the moment someone first gets in touch with us, we try to be honest, straightforward, and helpful, so that families can make a well informed choice with confidence.

Our nursing care provision means that residents with more complex or ongoing health needs can be supported here without having to move elsewhere as their needs change. Our dementia care approach is person centred, meaning we focus on the individual rather than the condition, taking time to understand each resident's history, routines, and what brings them comfort and joy.

We were recently assessed by the Care Quality Commission and received an overall rating of requires improvement. We want to be transparent about this. We have taken the findings seriously and are actively working through the areas identified, with clear plans in place and progress already being made. We believe our residents and their families deserve openness, and we are committed to getting things right.

What you will find at St Fillans is a team of people who genuinely care about the residents they support, a welcoming environment, and a home where everyone is treated with dignity. We are proud of the relationships we build here, and we welcome you to come and see us for yourself.
