About Us
Seven Rivers in Colchester is a care home with nursing, specialising in support for adults with physical disabilities. We also care for autistic adults and people with a learning disability, people with sight or hearing loss, younger adults and older people, and we take respite bookings.
Much of our work is with people who have significant physical support needs and who are nowhere near the end of their lives. That distinction shapes everything. The point is not simply to keep somebody comfortable but to make an ordinary life possible: getting out, seeing people, studying or working, keeping control over the day and over the decisions in it. We plan support around that and treat nursing as the thing that makes it achievable rather than the whole of it.
Having qualified nurses on duty at all hours means we can manage complex health needs on site and handle periods of illness here rather than through repeated hospital admissions. Equipment, layout and the way support is offered are all set up to preserve as much independence as possible, because independence lost to well meaning haste is very hard to recover.
We work closely with families, therapists, commissioners and specialist teams, and we expect to be told bluntly when we have got something wrong.
Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please ring if you would like to look round.
