About Us
Leonard Lodge is a nursing home in Brentwood, Essex. We care for older people who need registered nursing alongside help with daily life, including people living with dementia and people living with mental health conditions.
Nursing cover at every hour of the day and night is the practical reason most people come to us. It allows us to manage complex medication, skin and pressure care, continence and nutrition, and to keep close enough watch on somebody's health that changes are picked up early rather than becoming emergencies. Where a person is approaching the end of their life, it means we can keep them comfortable here, among people who know them.
Dementia asks for something other than clinical skill. It asks for a familiar rhythm to the day, surroundings that are easy to make sense of, and staff who go where the person is instead of correcting them. We learn about somebody's working life, family and habits, because that is what explains them to us later.
Clinical skill alone does not make a home worth living in, so residents here decide when they get up, what they eat, whether they join in and who visits.
Respite and short stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring to arrange a visit.
