About Stibbs House

We are Stibbs House, a nursing home in Bristol. We provide nursing care and support for adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available. Because our focus is learning disability, autism and physical disability rather than older people's care, the way we work is different from a general nursing home. Having qualified nursing available means health needs can be met properly without somebody having to move on in order to get them looked after. Around that, our attention goes on routine, communication and what each person actually wants from their week. Where change or noise is difficult for somebody, we keep things predictable and prepare carefully for anything out of the ordinary. Where somebody wants to be busy, with work, college, sport or regular groups, we plan for that deliberately. Access, equipment and moving about safely get proper attention so that they do not end up shaping the whole day. We also take positive risk seriously. Protecting people from every possible setback would protect them from most of what makes life worth having. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
