We are The Carers Group, based in Grays and supporting adults in their own homes across Thurrock and the surrounding area. We support older people, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and younger adults who need help with daily life. In practice that means personal care, support with medication, meals, shopping and housework, help getting out to appointments, and the company that often matters as much as any task on a care plan. Because we are guests in somebody's home, they set the terms. We ask how things are usually done and we do them that way rather than arriving with a system of our own. We agree the times that suit and we keep to them, since a late call is no small matter when somebody is waiting to get up or needs their tablets. Wherever we can we send the same small group of workers. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we have, please ask us direct questions about how we recruit, train and supervise our staff, what happens when a visit runs late, and who you can reach at the weekend. We would rather be judged on clear answers than on claims.
