About Us
We at The Orpheus Centre are proud to provide specialist home care across Godstone and the wider Surrey community, supporting younger adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and physical or sensory impairments to live the lives they choose.
Based in the heart of Godstone within the RH postcode area, our setting allows us to deliver personalised support in familiar surroundings, whether that is in residents' own homes or within the local community they know and love. Surrey offers a wonderful balance of village charm and convenient access to green spaces, amenities and transport links, and we work hard to ensure the people we support can make the most of everything the area has to offer.
Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the younger adults in our care. For individuals with learning disabilities or autism, we focus on building independence, confidence and meaningful daily routines, tailoring our approach to each person's preferences and communication style. For those living with mental health conditions, we offer steady, compassionate support that respects dignity and promotes wellbeing. We also support adults with physical disabilities and visual or hearing impairments, adapting our methods to ensure every person feels understood, included and empowered.
In practice, this means our team takes the time to listen, to learn what matters most to each individual, and to walk alongside families as trusted partners. We understand that choosing home care is a significant decision, and we strive to make that journey feel collaborative, transparent and full of possibility. Whether the goal is developing new skills, pursuing creative passions, maintaining friendships or simply enjoying everyday routines with the right level of support, we are here to make it happen.
Our commitment to quality is reflected in our overall CQC rating of Good, achieved across all five inspection domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. This consistent recognition by the Care Quality Commission gives families reassurance that the care we provide meets the standards expected by the regulator and, more importantly, by the people who rely on us each day.
If you are exploring care options for a loved one in Godstone or the surrounding Surrey area, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We would be delighted to answer your questions, share more about our approach, and help you discover whether The Orpheus Centre is the right fit for your family. What the inspectors found
A plain English summary of the Care Quality Commission inspection behind the current rating of The Orpheus Centre. Report published 1 January 2020.
- 9 December 2019.
Safe
Inspectors found that recruitment checks were done before staff started work. They found there were enough staff to meet people's care and support needs. Risks were assessed, medicines were managed safely, and the service had safeguarding and infection control procedures in place.
Effective
Inspectors found that people's needs were assessed when they attended the college. Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to support them, and were supported through induction, training and regular supervision. People were supported to keep a healthy balanced diet and could see health care professionals when they needed to.
Responsive
Inspectors found that people using the service received planned and co-ordinated support that suited them. People and their relatives, where appropriate, were consulted about their care and support needs. The service had a complaints procedure, and people's end of life needs and wishes were considered.
Well-led
Inspectors found that the registered manager worked with education, health and social care providers to plan and deliver the service. There were systems to check the quality and safety of the service, and any learning was identified and acted on. The provider took the views of students and staff into account through satisfaction surveys.
